Triple Play Plus

Concerning the Triple Play Plus, I understand, from Jeff Glatt who talked
to Todor Fay about it, that it does not have independent hardware timing
control for the MIDI outs, i.e. the MIDI data flow uses software filtering
to route to the outputs as opposed to truly DMA or hardware dedicated ports
and buffers in the interface, Such reliability and control is offered in
Music Quest's MQX-32M interface, which is a major reason for me using my PC
system more often now than my Amiga. And with Music Quest's MIDI Engine
Array and Roland's SuperMPU interfaces due in the near feature; such
capable products for the Amiga would go a long way for encouraging more
musicians to use the Amiga as amateurs and professionally. Certainly it
would give more incentive to finally upgrade to an Amiga 3000 (or higher)
than any other reason – as I certainly have a great deal of respect for
Bars & Pipes Professional, SuperJAM!, Dr.T's KCS, etc. But music vendor
support of MPU-401 like standards in the IBM compatible platform would be a
significant strong selling point for myself and I'm sure for other users.
In short, for the many reasons to upgrade from an A1000, to me the
strongest, is for the most viable music stable timing environment to work
in. Meanwhile, I'm "enjoying" a 486SX-20 in SVGA 1024×768 mode with Windows
3.1, and a rich variety of music software. But I'll always prefer the
Amiga's OS, though I'm still using WB 1.3. In anycase using two computers
does also have many advantages <G>!
