Font copyrights extend to the name and _the method of generation_ You can copyright a font that outputs perfectly identical to another, just so long as it's named differently and the generating code/nethod is not the same. This is primarily directed toward scalable fonts. As you stated, you just have so many bits to play with in bitmap fonts, plus, unless you like EBDIC and suchlike, ASCII codes limit the range somewhat. 8) Doug
