I've used the Fantastic Voyage CD and I've found it to be a pretty good
starting point for a CDTV title. Please keep in mind however I never loaded up
3 1/2 in. version. Not only is the initial start up sequence good, but the
music/ sound effects can quickly fill up a room (especially with the dynamic
speakers I have coming from the eaphone jack). The graphics are Ok also, an
anoying habit CDTV seems to have is with ham pics or high res( i think? ),
turns off the power led.
But does that really matter. If yo are looking for a good example of what CDTV
programs should be like try SPIRIT OF EXCALIBUR. The music from the CD plays
continuously from the disk while playing the game like Fantastic Voyage. But in
terms of options like where you go and what you do (which may stop the music to
load a pic or diff. music) seems virtually unlimitted. The game can be a little
slow but imagine the possibillities for a dungeons & dragons type or a flight
simmulator with a map of eastern europ in it.
By the way NBA JAM has a half time CDXL window of diff players doin diff stuff
does that mean aCDTV version is'nt far away. Maybe Commodore will come out with
it?
