Software FPU no workee? The only other option is to recompile POV-Ray without the FPU requirement. In order to reduce software litter and confusion, the POV-Team has adopted a policy of "ONLY ONE SANCTIONED EXECUTABLE." But since we also provide source, any user is free to recompile their own version for "their own purposes." This means I cannot post a Non-FPU-POV-Ray 1.0-Mac application here, but if you have access to a compiler or an FWC (Friend-with-compiler) you can recompile it fairly easily. If there are enough Mac voices clamouring out there for a non-FPU version of POV-Ray, I think we will consider releasing two Mac executables of POV-Ray 2.0, just as we did for the '286 version that so many cried for. As a semi-related note, we are always interested in selecting beta-testers here on CIS for POV-Ray. If you think you might like to help with (& have time for) the Macintosh 2.0 effort, and are willing to download & beta-test & e-mail bug reports, you may want to talk to Drew Wells. If we were to support a non-FPU version of POV-Ray Mac, the Centris (68040) would be a very good CPU to test on. Hope this is helpful, [esp] There are 2 Replies. Read action !
