I think it may be interesting to explore ways one can share/network the "storage" between systems. Lately, in the forums, I've noticed an increase in the amount of discussions along these lines – on networking and "NFS" capabilities. With disks getting bigger and several users having more than one system, this is becoming more and more important. Keeping current backup of the systems is not a minor issue with larger disks. We began our "solution hunt" last year, at the time we had two Amiga 3000s, both with 200 meg hard disks. We purchased a Maxtor 1 Gigabyte removable (optical), a 1/2 G on each side. This is shared full time by the 3000s using ENLAN-DFS. ENLAN-DFS also gives us access to the other resources on the two systems. (Pratically complete access of the remote system). We've since added a A1200 to the family, which we connect up to "our" network with Parnet. We've invested in two disks. On each we keep one side to back up the 5 disks on the three Amigas and the second side for "online" access. One of the disk is for offsite backup. Between all this and the tapestreamer, backups have become extremely easy and "floppyless". We're probably not done yet, you see, we have our game machine to hook up to the network – ummmm what do you do about these IBM PC's. So we keep exploring…..TCP/IP???? Side note, while the above solution is not the cheapest, it has been rather fun – some of the initial solutions for sharing the 1G drive proved to be very interesting – not to mention creative. As a CD-ROM owner, I'd be interested to know about portability of CD's between platforms. Is there software out there that would allow a CD developed for an IBM or a MAC to be accessable on the Amiga? Are there HW differences? It would be nice at least to be able to access "data" based CD's. Looking forward to reading the "HARDWARE POWER ISSUE". Good luck!
