I have studied this stuff for a few months, and want to know how you old-timers think about the following equipment as a toaster setup… 1) The new JVC "X2" 3-chip camera (full sized S-VHS) with optional 17:1 servo GLASS lens (not the 13:1 default lens) and with LTC/VITC time-code card. 2) Two Panasonic AG7650 players with built-in TBC 3) One Panasonic AG7750 recorder with built-in TBC 4) A Toaster 4000 setup (not sure about what hardware, etc (ideas?) 5) Bogen 3065 Tripod with Dolly, fluid head, spreader and two handles. 6) Lowell Omni 4-light Kit 7) Two Panasonic BT-S901Y 9" S-video monitor with underscan, blue- only, comb filter, rack-mountable, etc. 9) Genlock – I'll use the genout on the camera to sync the rest of the system. 10) Hamlet Micro Scope – vector/waveform scope 11) Telex wireless mic system (FMR-70, WT-55) Any other "just gotta have" stuff I (really!) need for technical training corporate videos (for in-house personnel) ? 90% of shooting to be done in my training room. The X2 has "clear scan" that evidently uses a continously variable shutter from "60Hz to 200Hz" to lock onto almost any computer screen (my number one concern, since most of what I'll shoot are computers.) I figure I can shoot with the camera's S-VHS internal and also loop to the AG7750 recorder to come up with two master tapes that I can then use to A/B roll from.
