#Mitsumi CD-ROM problems
I'm getting a 'gradual' problem with my Mitsumi CD-ROM (CRMC mode, 16 bit card,
350MS) that I wonder if anyone else has come across. When my machine is first
booted, it works fine. However, if I continually use it (either reading files
ofr playing audio CD's), after about 1.5 – 2 hours it seems to start having
problems reading the CDs… 'Not ready' errors start occuring, or *very* long
times (with lots of clicking sounds) to retrieve data, or audio CD music
passages skipped or stuck. I've reseated the cards, checked the wires, and it
still occurs. I've noticed that inside the drive where the CD goes gets very
hot to the touch…I wonder if this is normal, or could be contributing to the
problem? Any advice/suggestions appreciated. My environment is both DOS 5.0
with the DMA driver, and OS/2 2.0 with a DOS VDM and the IRQ only driver
(MTMCDS version 2.00a)
