Mickey,
<<Is it a CD-ROM produced on a CD-R desktop recorder?>>
You got it in one, so to speak <G>
However, a one-off might be any CD format — CD-DA, CD-I, CD-ROM, CD-ROM(XA),
PhotoCD, etc.
What the term means is a crafted item made one at a time, as opposed to a
mass-produced product. I like to (jokingly) say that we hand-craft CDs, which
conjures up visions of very thick magnifiers and very tiny styli, not to
mention much steadier hands than I have. And lots of patience. Thank goodness
for CD recorders!
If you'd like some more terminology specific to the one-off technology, come by
the new CDROM Vendors forum when it opens (in a week or so, I hope) and look in
the One-Off Shop's library. I'm working on a glossary to post there.
Thanks for your interest!
