While you say the move to AGA is hopefully an exception as far as users having
to replace their whole (older) machines to get that feature, I'm not so sure.
Remember that while the A500 and A2000 were GREAT for users and <grin> third
party companies who could make lots of add-ons that would make those machines
viable for years, that's not actually what Commodore wants, since they'd rather
have people in a position where they must upgrade the whole machine, because
that translates into more business for them. Having third parties continue to
make old hardware viable is not good for Commodore. That's why the continual
rampage of newer Intel processors and more demanding software has been nirvana
for hardware companies, who know that sooner or later the customers are going
to come back.
