Yes, the "magic wand" lets you creep in or out on a selected area. So if you don't quite get a mask or brush that you like from your color selection, you can adjust it. This is sort of the secret to compositing an area so it looks right. If you are trying to get two different contrast areas to look good, you can adjust the feather-in/out. Of course, the more pixels you have to work with, the better it will look.
