Hi Gary Sorry for delay in replying. In between trying to finish writing up my PhD, unravelling Optibase MPEG and queching my addiction to play VR games I have been trying to complete several morphing sequences in 3D Studio. The first one will be a 15-20 second morph of a rotating DNA strand into a rough mesh of the alien in Aliens 3. It's proving a touch difficult. The secon one concerns a car advert… You've no doubt seen the Saab advert which shows the car skidding around a cliff edge road…it then drives off the cliff…you then see a view of a Saab Viggen aicraft (I think it's a Viggen) in the air? Remember? WELL, I'm gonna try to show people what happens in between! Morphing can be a touch involved. (Q) Is it not possible to use the Divergence of a mesh tangentially to map to a virtual sphere and then to use the Curl of the sphere, with patch coordinates, to remap to another mesh? This way, it seems, that the number of vertices might become irrelevant, also hotspots may not be needed. It's something I have been looking at a couple of weeks ago but haven't had enough time to explore. Hmmm…IPAS morphing? I would be interested to hear your comments. –PK– (My actual name is Pinakin Katbamna but I am only using Peter's compuserve facilities) PS I've shown Nick some of the 7 minute animation before it went into the rave video…I'll send you a copy in the next few days.
