RUN to your library and ask the librian for help. The principal skill
for abstractors is the ability to read an article and assign its
descriptors IAW the Library of Congress's Subject Catalog. A
librarian can give you a briefing how that works. Or as long as you
are in the Library … look it up!
An abstractor will make what a librarian makes. In Washington, that
is the mid-20's to start. I am not sure what problems you will have
without an MLS. It is a difficult degree since only some colleges
offer it. For instance: of all the Universities around D.C. only
Gerorgetown and Maryland offer the MLS.
