Brian; It is a tough problem. The Ami has been pretty good about "believing" a device when it "says" that it can do something. The trouble is that lots of devices say that they can do things that they can not. Since they were scsi drives that did obey the specs and honoring the specs gave the Ami a much faster, better performing scsi device it seems reasonable that C= choose to go with the standard. I admit, like you, that it is a real pain when you are trying to add something and find that the "something" does not follow the spec. It is made a great deal worse by the arrogant attitude of device manufactures. They generally refuse to tell you anything about what they have or have not done as far a scsi standard compliance is concerned. -bill
