Thanks for the thorough feedback.
1) I do believe it is certainly possible to have code that runs slower on an
040 than an 030/882 combination (transcendentals, as I mentioned, are likely to
be a problem). As you noted, the integer version of LW surely ran faster than
the 030/882 combination, and I don't believe the rendering results will be any
different, right? So I'm not clear on why you'd rather have the 030/882. I
believe LW 3.0 is geared to the 040 and should really run fast. If you want
fast rendering, get Caligari 🙂 !
2) Re: serial problems – I definitely forwarded (before you mentioned it) info
about Steve Ahlstrom to the IOExtender Product Manager who said he'd be happy
to loan Steve one, so that should have happened or will do so shortly. [Steve
– let me know by email what's happening if you read this.]
3) Re: GVPPAR showing up as a hard drive with that FR program (which I don't
believe I've seen), I'll forward that info to the relevant person and see what
they can find out. Thanks for the info.
