I'm really not picking on you… Perhaps your messages are the most
thought provoking. <g>
If one were to output articles strictly based on market share, then a new
product with zero share would get zero articles. (Or perhaps just one, and
then be dropped till it was successful.)
Did the original IBM PC languish for articles till it surpassed the Apple
II? Did the Mac, which had even less software at introduction, wait for
articles?
Nope, at that time, articles were based on what was new and exciting. Now
articles are weighed by market share? I guess by comparison, NeXt is
really overwritten about. I won't look forward to another article on them
for years. <g>
Personally, if the day comes when something new, and exciting, and better
than the Amiga, comes out. I want to hear about it, so I can go get one.
While I really like my Amiga, (I also have a clone, and a Mac +), if a
better machine is built, I want to hear all about it.
I think some magazines, use the market ratio approach to explain away their
fears of alienating those who must believe that their computer is the only
possible solution to the problem, and that they "bought right."
