Rob, I talked to another guy in our IS today who is fairly well plugged in. He said we are surely looking at NT and have a couple of March betas going here. He said he thought the other guy meant it wouldn't be in widespread use in the company for about a year. Now, I think a year is reasonable, or even pushing it for general use. I still think the guy who said we're not looking at it made a dumb statement! Well, my SCSI drive's in the box, and the job looks almost professional. My length worry about is between boxes (Although there are three feet of ribbon in the box to daisy through!). It's all clustered around where I sit, with my left knee on my CPU box. The SCSI goody box is to the left of that and at right angles to it, but because of table legs, etc. it will need a six footer to get to the box from the adapter card. My scanner is at my right knee, and that would be a ten foot run from the SCSI box. I won't be putting the scanner on the bus right away. Not until Microtec comes up with their ASPI driver. I could do it now with CorelSCSI Pro, but don't want to spend the $200 to upgrade to Pro. (That will half pay for the CD-ROM drive!) If the ten foot run is too long, I can come out of the 50-pin on the SCSI adapter and come out of the back of the computer some way to a shorter cable. I might eat the lost megabytes and go with bigger disk partitions to keep things easier to sort out in my head, knowing that I can recoup anytime by divying it up or going to NT. NT's going to be great, but I wonder if Windows 4 will be enough for me. If it's really junior NT, I might go for it. I especially want to get past the 640K DOS strangle hold, the shorty file names, and the disk sector limitations. We'll see! Dave McKeen
