Does anyone know if the following are pipe dreams or reality? The source claims it is from an offical press release. If it is reality it looks like the future is colourful… 8^) Amiga 5000 -4 custom chips -32/64 bit wide VRAM (allows simultaneous access, increasing bandwidth) -57/114 Mhz pixel clock -support for chunky pixels -24 bit planes -CD-ROM ready ***Frame Grabber built in with up to 60 frames per sec -1024 x 1024 screen resolution (that is, with the framegrabber) ***16 bit audio, samples up to 100 kHz, AT&T 40 Mhz DSP chip -On demand DMA, asynchronous instead of synchronous now being used **12-20x bandwidth increase over AA chipset! -32-bit blitter, 8x performance of AA (p.s.–AA is AGA) ***Built in hardware compression/decomp for video (MPEG, I assume) -Improvd genlock support -72 Hz refresh rate ****SCSI-II Zorro III 32 bit bus master controller on motherboard -CD-ROM with PhotoCD capability (about time!) *******Full-motion 24-bit video!! —shipped with plug-in 33 mhz 68040 (mentions 68060 as possible alternative) ***Up to 8 MB Chip (!) RAM —Up to 16 MB Fast RAM —Built in 72-pin SIMM slots (for autoconfigurable additional memory) —AmigaDOS 3.1 —programmable resolutions -Right and left stereo in (! Built-in 16-bit digitizer) and out RCA ports -200-pin CPU slot -5 Zorro III expansion slots -3 PCAT slots -Extended 24-bit video slot, in line with standard 100-pin ZOrros for integration ***Built-in 3.5-inch VERY high density drive (880/1.76/3.52(!)) -2 rear and 2 front 3.5 inch bays -1 front 5.25-inch bay for optional CD-ROM Graphics: AAGA-2 custom chipset produces res from 320×200 to 1280×1024 with 16.8 million colors on-screen at once in all modes Sound: AT&Ts DSP chip at 40 Mhz with 2 16-bit analog/digital (for digitizing) converter -16-bit volume -100 mhz sampling Dimensions: 15.25 deep x 16 wide x 6 high, 22 lbs, 250 watt power supply —Ships with 6 MB RAM, 200 MB SCSI-2 (Hooray!) hard drive Amiga Portable: –32-bit DRAM, 57 mhz pixel clock, 8x bandwidth increase (over AGA), 2x blitter performance, 800×600 256 color mode at 722hz, 16-bit "true color" graphics mode (256k colors), FIFO buffer on serial port, 8 MB chip RAM, support for 4 MB floppy –This part is the official press release, so ignore some parts above… 14.32 mhz 680201v processor, 2 MB chip ram, 16 mb fast ram, 150-pin trapdoor bus –AmigaDOS 3.1, 150-pin CPU slot, 2 PCMIA-2 slots –separate numeric keypad and cursor keys, mini-trac ball + separate mouse –same res as 5000, only 256k colors at once (oh, darn), color LCD monitor (don't know whether it's active or passive matrix) — outputs to external monitor ***same 16-bit setup as 5000, built-in digitizer –3 inches high x 12.5 inches long and 9.5 inches deep, 7 lbs. with 5-hr (!!!!) battery and LCD color monitor (only does 640×480 without external monitor) –built in 2 MB RAM, 1.76 MB floppy, 80 MB IDE HD This part is just speculation and well-informed rumors, but it sounds pretty confident… CDTV-II has Amiga Portable motherboard (AAGA chip set and 16-bit stuff,68020), runs double speed, to support Kodak Photo CD and Philips CD-Interactive standards
