My Dear Boy, Hurrumph!, Hmmmmmm, Maybee . . . (Nearly?) I think we may be starting off on the wrong foot. Firstly, are we talking of trying to alter specific atoms of carbon or hydrogen or aluminium? I think not. The best way to approach this would simply to make your 4 3/4" diameter disc an ETOM * (Electron Trapping Optical Memory) disc. This would give you a storage and retrieval capacity of 1 Kilobyte per cubic micron. This would give you a storage factor of . . .(oh my!) (Can someone please give me the displacement of a CD-ROM disc in cubic microns? Don't forget to subtract the hole in the center.) This would give Archamedes a headache. Cheers, John * (c) Ethyl Corporation, Richmond VA
