Garry,
if he's using the 6.0 version of DOS, and the included compression, he
needs to upgrade to 6.2, if he can still find it. (It was discontinued as
a result of a lawsuit between MicroSoft and Stac.) There were some
problems with DoubleSpace in the initial release. 6.2 is rock steady in
that respect.
