Wayne, Apple set the precedent of not attempting (they'd have lost anyway) to shut down rom-required emulators when they did not go after Dave Small of Pacific Data (and later Gadgets by Small). There is no copyright infringement as long as original Apple roms are used and the roms themselves are not modified … once loaded into ram, the rom image may then be modified. It was the success of the "Magic Sac" emulator for the ST (long before ReadySoft jumped into the emulator biz … Dave Small turned down Simon Douglas when approached about marketing his Mac emulator for the Amiga) that caused Apple to get paranoid about the availability of their roms. They couldn't stop the legal usage of their rom, so they attempted to shut down their distribution. -sja
