/* Man, you are really _out there_ on the beer ad. First of all, that's the
***Chrysler building*** in NYC!!!! It is NOT the "3DS" building by PCA.
Sheeesh, you should get out a little more… */
<gg> Thanks for the footnote, John. (yes, I know its the Chrysler building…
but seriously, how many buildings do we really see out there in the freeware
meshworld?–big grin… we refer to it around here as the 3DS building
because… well, it;s one of the few buildings 3DS comes with <big grin>)
/* The animation, done by Sidley Wright Motionworks for Miller Beer, is, IMHO,
an amazing feat of compositing high end animation with film, and I find the
concept (besides the fact that I don't drink alcohol) and execution pretty
excellent, too. If you look very closely at the building character, you'll see
the level of detail is FAR greater than that of the building in PCA CITY, and
the seemless integration to the filmed scene is very solid. That you */
Well, I guess different people are impressed by different things. I bump into
people who are still impressed with pen plotters. No, I was not that impressed
with the commercial.
/* think "someone threw this together fast" is either a complement to their
skill in executing the trick, or a testament to your ignorance of animation and
film composite effects. */
I admit, like everyone else here, I have my ignorance pockets. But the
technical whizbang of this particular commercial doesn't touch some of the
stuff I've seen out there… polar bears on bobsleds, listerine bottles
swinging from vines and all. No, this was a typical mix of live video with
static-vertice morphing.
/* As far as copyright and patent violations, I don't even want to enter into
that argument, but… I think it is the artist's responsibility to take steps
*/
No argument intended here, John. Just my observations on Gayle's frustration.
It's not the first time I've seen bare-naked plagerism though.
/* hippy-happy-freelove-share-the-wealth-eat-granola-smell-the-incense kinda
world, it's a make-as-much-as-you-can-and-****-your-neighbour kinda world, and
*/
You're not a pessimist at heart, are you? 🙂
Don't want you to get the wrong idea here, John (your response seemed live-lier
than usual)… it's a good topic to discuss, and the legal ramifications of
"using pre-exiting work without onsent" ARE worth examining as this IS an
increasing problem.
p.s. i like incense, used to like granola before I found out how fattening most
of it is, enjoy sharing the wealth, and freelove brought my wife and I together
for 10 years (so far). I take it the *** stands for "love". <I have this
feeling our next meeting will be a bit more exciting than a XAOS booth
sit-back>… have a nice evening dude. -dave
