John,
And I agree with you in most points. I like the Miller commercial, I understand
that maybe it could be a little tricky to pursue this class of people in court
and I understand the bad karma.
However, it is not bad karma only. It really makes me SICK when I see work
copied. It is not for reasons of copyright, money or whatever. People that use
other work because of lack of imagination, skills, time, resources, or whatever
don't enter in the category of human beings for me, less in the artist
category. I don't anything about against students cheating and I don't have any
"honor code" as most of the american people seem to have. I just can't stand
people COPYING artwork, visual imaginery, whatever that has come from the minds
of others. It is sad to see that this **** has reach. BTW, I don't have
prooblems with people that use artwork (usually, universally or broad known)
from other people for artistical purposes, understanding artistical purposes as
criticism, parody, etc. but I understand the people who think this is
illegal/unethical too. It is a matter of points of view. However, copying a
painting/animation/sculpture/music/writting and presenting the work as own
is… well, I have a hundred words in spanish to describe that. I guess that I
don't have enough english language skills to do it, but I could learn very
fast.
