James, It seems to me, that for whatever reason an E.T. was traveling through our solar system, Earth would be an irresistible place to investigate. One thing we seem to have in common with all the higher intellingence animals is curiousity. I wouldn't expect an even more highly advanced civilisation to be less curious. So I don't agree that earth would be as interesting as moss on the north side of a tree. <g> On the contrary, humans don't make sense in the balance of nature and for that reason alone I would think a more highly advanced civilisation would want to try to understand why. A friend of mine once said, the scientists and engineers would reach for the stars, and the philosophers and poets would want to stay here and ponder them. I don't agree that we're wasting our time and money on "outer space". But that's a debate I'd rather leave for another time and place. -JE
