Paul: Here are Amiga sales statistics from Newsbytes, December, 1991: September, 1985 – Amiga introduced March, 1989 – 1,000,000th Amiga sold November, 1990 – 2,000,000th Amiga sold December, 1991 – 3,000,000th Amiga sold All numbers were taken by Newsbytes from a Commodore press release in December, 1991. Commodore started reporting declining sales and financial problems immediately thereafter. It would seem unlikely that more than another million or two Amigas were sold, giving a total of between 4,000,000 and 5,000,000 in place. You would seem to be quite correct in your opinion that most of those Amigas are low-end models. As I recall, Commodore claimed only 900,000 machines of all kinds manufactured in 1993. Another magazine carried an article in 1992 indicating that only 72% of Commodore owners would purchase another Commodore machine. The company also ranked 21st of 27 in a customer satisfaction survey. For comparison purposes, some 15,000,000 Apple Macintoshes have been sold since 1984 with a pro rata run rate at this time of approximately 3,000,000 – 4,000,000 machines annually. PC's have an installed based of somewhere between 70,000,000 and 100,000,000 with between 20,000,000 and 30,000,000 new machines sold annually. Jerry
