Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! Whew! Excuse me! That bit about getting an "experienced" support person to come on site was a bit more than I could handle before noon. A) Unfortunately, I end up knowing more about the problem & solution than most "support people I've dealt with around here, and B) Because they know that I can handle things to a great extent on my own, I think I get a bit less attention than their idiot clients who can't figure out how that the machine needs to be plugged in to one of those little plastic panels that you find on the wall about a foot from the floor. And you know, this brings to mind something I've been saying for quite a while…. You know how you can contact some tehc-support line for some product and no matter how well and concisely you present your problem to them, no matter how much knowledge you display about the situation, they always treat you like some loser who forgot to turn on the monitor? Well, I think there should be some sort of international code-word (& hand-shake) that competent computer-literate people could use to recognise each other. There wouldn't have to be a test, per se, but rather any individual who had the code could induct in anyone else they believed fit the requirements (and since it would be in their own interest to keep the group to only reliable people, it would be self-policing).
