Vance,
Thanks for answering so quickly.
I had considered both the EGS systems and the Retina & Picasso boards
but I was attracted by both the price and the quality of software that
comes with OpalVision. From what I understand the only package that comes
near to the features of OpalPaint is TVPaint but TVPaint would be an
additional $300 or so and, as I understand it, lacks some key features.
Unfortunately, I can't really afford to go for extra s/w. I believe the
paint s/w that is bundled with the other boards is less than full-featured
as well although they do have some nice features such as hires displays
(which I couldn't use on my 1942 anyway).
The Retina & Picasso are attractive because of the support for Emplant and
the WorkBench and mode promotion but what I really need is good production
s/w, today. EGS is has great potential but I wonder if that potential
will ever be realised.
BTW, do you know if any of those other boards have composite or S-Video
out? I would like to hear any other comments that you have.
Thanks,
Andrew
