Ed, I'd love to have your 2 cents…8^) Well, a bit about myself might clear things up. I'm a multimedia developer and the majority of the work that I will be doing with the board will be screen displays. I am also interested in using it for taping demos, examples and promotionals. That's why the most important thing for me was a good paint program. I also don't have a lot to spend. Most of the stuff I will be doing will probably be 640×480 (VGA) but I was hoping to be able to at least work on "super" bitmaps of 800×600 and more. If I ever get to the point where I work normally at the higher resolutions then I'll have to invest in a new monitor, etc. Having something like the EGS or RTG boards would be nice but if the paint program wasn't up to snuff it wouldn't do me very much good. I was attracted to the Opal Board primarially because of the reputation of OpalPaint and the low cost. I don't really care if the video modules are ever released because I'm not a videographer. The GVP Impact is very attractive but it is out of my price range. Also, if I was to spend more for something I would probably try and get an RTG system. (BTW, how is the paint program that comes with it, I recall MacroPaint used to be bundled with it but was very buggy.) I was surprised that it never took off more than it did, as well. I guess it was over shadowed by the Toaster. As the future of the Amiga is in doubt I want to make sure I get something that works today, not in the nebulous future. For that reason I ordered the Opal Board today. It may not be the most technologically advanced but at least it seems to have a good track record. I probably should have waited for more opinions but heck, ya gotta do what you expect you are going to do anyway. Thanks for your 2c. Andrew
