Jonathan Richman is a singer/songwriter (I guess that's what you'd call him) with a bent for humor and punk rock/alternative (except he was doing that in the early seventies). His band, the Modern Lovers, was one of my favorites in its day, and his solo acoustic stuff is brilliant, but you've gotta like that kind of stuff (he doesn't take himself too seriously).
