I have a couple (4) 60MHz pentiums and they scream compared to my 66MHz 486's. I really wisy 3DS were written for the MAC. From what I learned yesterday, the 64 bit addressing on my new Power PC gives it about 22 times faster throughput in calculations that a 90MHz Pentuim. Of course, this data comes from a MAC guy so you know how that goes. But with my new 2D animation system, I can get 30FPS in 32 bit color at 640×486 (differential animation of course, not full frame) but with lots of screen changes. In fact, in may cases it can keep up with 60 fields/sec in full color/full res. Wish the PC could do this! BTW, another nice thing about the mac is if I want a video tape, I just plug a CR into the back and record real-time in fairly high quality. Not adequate for professional release, but great for pencil test.
