Rumour no.4340
Here's another rumour to throw into the pile.
Friend of mine knows a guy in the Credit Referencing business. I think that's
what it's called. You know the chaps. they check out your credit and tell the
retailer that, no, you can't take out Hire Purchase on that vacuum cleaner
because you already owe the World Bank $5 billion. You know the sort of
thing…
Anyway, this guy says his credit company have been told to stop credit to
Commodore UK AND Commodore Germany because they are both being wound up /about
to close/whatever. Details are a bit sketchy.
Now this info might be complete hog-wash. If so, then fine. If there's truth in
this then you've got 2 points. Either 1: Commodore have finally sunk, it's the
end, finito; or 2: Someone has bought the company and has sanctioned some
immediate and rather sweeping changes from Day 1 re-structuring the whole
company. Let's say, into one European office? CBM's co-MD, Colin Proudfoot told
me (2 weeks ago) he wanted to see a single Euro office instead of
multi-country offices. Food for thought.
