>> I hope if that sort of thing spills to Siggraph that there will be a
protest. <<
So do I, and being as vocal about certain things as I am, you can count on me
to register a protest. <g> <- There's a grin there but I'm serious. Enough is
enough. I would like to think that the kind of people who attend Siggraph have
more imagination and apply it to more worthwhile endeavours and/or
entertainment. 3 or 4 years ago a certain animation software vendor brought a
buxom female mesh model to display at the convention, and there was mixed
reaction, but the feeling of the vendor was to discontinue displaying the model
as there were women there who took offense. In many cases I would say that
while many men might not approve they wouldn't speak up to say so, as it would
appear that they are less than "manly" in doing so. I think women will have to
speak up when trends like this start, and voice their opposition. It would also
be easy to get national press on an issue like this.
I hope that you don't take this as a shirking of responsibility on the part of
men in not speaking up, as I for one would. But I also think that without the
support of women, no one is going to take the issue seriously.
Its just another case of humanity denegrading humanity, which hurts us all. And
I disagree when people make the claim its not hurting anybody. Its hurting the
collective conscious, and denegrating our self esteem as people.
I hadn't intended to get into it, but I'm glad you spoke up, and should the
occassion arise, I will stand with you on this issue.
