That's fine if that's what you need. The Quadra 900, of course, is an
outmoded machine and no longer in production – and benchmarks don't mean a
whole lot in the real world.
"Take a look at the latest AW ads for the Emplant."
I did – and started laughing.
All you need is an Amiga 4000, a 33Mhz 040 accelerator, an Emplant and a 24
bit video card and you can have a machine that is vastly underpowered compared
to an Apple PowerMac 5100 selling for $1,600.
The Emplant is a fine product, no doubt about that.
But at this point, it's a heck of a lot cheaper to spend the money on a
PowerMac and be done with it.
I just don't see outperforming an obsolete, discontinued Quadra 900 on a set
of benchmarks as being anything to crow about.
