"Does the $1600 system to which you are comparing the FULLY configured Emplant to: Have 24 bit graphics Have an '040 chip?" The Apple PowerMac 5100 will support a 14" monitor in 24-bit mode without an additional video card and it has a PowerPC CPU, not a 68040. You should also note that the Emplant ad clearly specifies that you need a top-end A4000, a 24-bit video card and an accelerator to acheive maximum Emplant performance. "Also consider that is the Emplant does actually run faster than the specific machine it is emulating, does the $1600 still apply since your running a superior machine?" "Superior" is a subjective determination. Also if you closely review the performance table shown in the Emplant ad, you'll see that the Emplant "wins" on average. In most specific tasks, the Emplant emulation is slower than the Quadra 840AV. In a couple of instances, it is much faster, thus producting an "average" benchmark score that favors it. Finally, benchmarks are benchmarks – they are not a reliable indicator of a machine's ability to run application software in the most efficient manner. There's nothing wrong with the Emplant. It seems to be a good product. But it is not a match for a standalone higher-end Macintosh. Jerry
