I've had some chats with Chinese people as my girlfriend is into garments &
importation etc. Well, as far as I've understood, China ain't ready for
computers yet. But the guys I met were perfectly aware of our side of the
world's technology. I must say they were all university graduates,
pro-capitalists after a few French wine glasses (no need to say they don't
criticize their goverment in normal circumstances), and had big incomes (on
China's basis). They knew about PCs, Amiga!, and said at that time they would
need some cheap computers to make China enter the computer age, as nothing
exists yet!
That's why I guess selling C64s in China may be a good way to make money as far
as political power backs the commercial forces… (As an example, China has
been renting an hotel in Paris for years, and Chinese business travellers are
only allowed to stay in this hotel.)
