It's interesting to note that the Commodore name literally fell of the back
of a truck…
Many years back, I asked Jack Tramiel what caused him to select the name
'Commodore' for his company….
He said, "I knew I wanted a name that represented a military rank of some
kind. 'General Electronics' was taken, as was 'Admiral', and I hadn't found
the name I wanted. Then, one day, I was driving is West Germany, and saw a
furniture truck with the name 'Commodore' on it; that was it!"
