First of all, let me make it clear that I was simply responding to Brent's
request for feedback about IPAS migration for R5 — I was telling him (and
still am) that I will NOT move to R5 until and unless my favorite IPAS routines
are there (or that functionality is built into R5 — but fat chance of that!).
I want my favorite IPAS developers to know how important this is to me (and
hopefully, others). But, on the subject, I am NOT going to go to NT except for
R5. I have a dual boot sequence now (actually, given the network, I have a
quadruple boot sequence, but that's another story). I just don't see a big
advantage in changing operating systems (always a major hassle no matter what
anyone says) unless I end up with a completely integrated environment.
I already have Elastic Reality and PhotoShop, and thus not being in NT doesn't
penalize me any. Okay, so maybe the 32bit versions really kick butt, but they
don't add ANY more functionality, and changing operation systems etc. etc.
(Right now I have hardware/software that definitely does NOT work in NT, and it
will cost me many thousands not to be able to use this stuff — I have to have
a very compelling reason to switch and R5 in and of itself — without the IPAS
that make it live and breathe — ain't gonna be it).
IMHO.
