Flying through stars would require a .AXP, not a .IXP. Actually, you can do a Star Wars-like hyperspace effect by simply using RAIN.AXP (from the Yost IPAS Boutique disk #4, "Particle Systems") with its bounding box rotated and stretched out so that the camera is inside the bottom plane and pointing toward the top plane! Make the particles tiny, with long tails, and assign a white self-illuminating material to the bounding box, and voila! It works best with a wide-angle FOV.
