Hi Martin,
That was a great overview. And if I may I'd like to follow up on a rather
esoteric point but seemingly important. I've used 720×486 as the standard HV
scanline for CCIR, which all of my documentation supports, including Abekas and
Quantel, as the correct value for CCIR. However, recently I've seen the value
you used, 720×480 mentioned on several occassions. My Ill Pro allows me to use
both, which is equally interesting. So do you know if there is a reason for
using one or the other, or a reason there are two? Looking at your post it
would seem that its got to do with being an even ratio but that's just a guess.
Technically it could make a difference as YUV is a raw format and it seems that
you would have to pad the image with some blank scanlines when transferring to
Abekas. I wonder what your take on this is.
