tricky,tricky,tricky……
It took me a LOT of trial and error to get it to work using the bevel function
in the lofter. It's hard but it can work.
You should get the book "Inside 3D Studio" (New Riders Pub.)
there are a few other solutions….
1) there is a shareware prog. called FontStudio3D. it is in the 3D Studio Lib.
of this forum. (it does a pretty good standard bevel) you do have to register
it if you want to save vowels. It saves to DXF.
2) There is another 3D program called Imagine by Impulse Inc.
About $300 – $400 ( 1-800-328-0184)
It is no 3D Studio, but it is a powerful program in it's own right. I use it to
supplement 3D Studio. One of the things that Imagine does really well is bevel
text. (It also outputs DXF) as a matter of fact, since I got 3D Studio, text
beveling is the primary thing that I've been using Imagine for. (There are many
people that like Imagine better than any other 3D program, (no accounting for
taste…<g> )
Good luck
