Without going into the details, I found 3ds much faster, better designed and more productive than Real3d. In my opinion the difference in price, even including a lot of IPAS routines is much less significant than the real cost of working with difficult to use tools ( time really is more than money! ) I am considering R3d as a modeler only since the recent messages extolling the virtues of the improvements in this area.
