#NT………..Hmmmm.
Because of the direction that 3D Studio is headed, I think we should have a
place on this forum for Windows NT questions.
I just got NT so I would be very comfortable with it by the time 3DS 5 comes
out.
The setup was a real PAIN IN THE BEHIND. But I finally got it running. (This
call to C$ is the first thing I'm doing with it 🙂 )
Anyway, I tried to get help on the WIN-NT forum, and no one even answered. I
had to try to figure out the solution myself based on previous NT forum
messages ( Microsoft has discontinued free Win NT installation tech. support,
it's only available for $150 "per incedent"
unless you count thier anemic "fax back service" both faxes that I requested
arrived corrupted. (not a problem when other people send me faxes)
As for the setup, If you have more than 2 IDE (or EIDE) drives ( I have an
INTEL PLATO motherboard, it has an IDE and an EIDE controller built in, I had
(yeah….. HAD) 1 EIDE on one controller, and 2 IDE's on the other. I had to
lose the second IDE drive and place the first IDE on the same controller as the
EIDE) In the NT install manual it says that I should "see my tech. support
represntitive" oh yeah, right remember that
"per incedent"charge?
Oh well, so far, it seems to be working OK, but I guess I'm lucky, Take a look
at the Win NT forum, it is filled with people that can't get thier Diamond
video cards and Adaptec SCSI cards to work ( I have both, and , as I said, it
seems to be working, like I said…lucky <g> )
good luck with your NT installs,
I'm glad I got it now. Imagine if i had waited till 3DS5 came out, then had to
sit, staring at the box and manual, while I struggled with NT for 3 days. That
would be a nightmare…….<G>
BTW… I haven't configured my spell checker yet so please forgive the
mistakes, I don't have time to go over it myself……..
See ya
