Hi Mike, hmm, talking about flatbeds, I'm curious, you said you upgraded your scanner, I'm in Montreal, and here HP has brought out a brand new fladbed scanner called the ScanJet 3c, it came out on April 20, 1995. In their press release, they say this has replaced the II series. Does your scanner scan at 600 dpi OPTICAL resolution ? The reason I'm wondering, is that this new one scans at 600 dpi, and is 1495$ here. I am really looking for a flatbed scanner, and many people have told me to do really decent scans that you need a 600 dpi optical scanner, not one that scans at 300 dpi (optical), perhaps you could help me out, how are the scans you do, when you can say .. a picture from a catalogue, or magazine does your machine do a scan pretty much the quality of the original ? I'm very curious, I'm also wondering, when you see jpgs or gifs of calender girls, motorbikes, boats, etc, how come they are about 500k for about a 1024×768 image ?, I few other users here on Compuserve had told me that an image scanned at 600 dpi, that size would be 5 megs!, hmm, I'm pretty lost. I find the quality of these gifs quite good, you don't see any imperfections in the image, and they are super crisp. Anyway, any info you can give me I would really appreciate. thanks for taking the time to read this. Mark in Montreal.
