Peter, The part number of the 500-sheet paper feeder for the PLUS is C2083D. This unit will work with both models. The original 4/4M parts were C2083A (Letter, exec, A4) and C2083B (Letter, Legal, exec, A4). The newer tray assembly has a corner hold-down tab that has a larger surface area and one or two little notches on the exposed vertical edge about 1.5" back from the end of the paper. There are other differences. The 4 PLUS printer is almost entirely different inside the case, both mechanically (it runs 50% faster and is duplex capable) and electrically (the processor is 4x as powerful and has a host of improved capabilities). There are electrical connections between the printer and the lower tray; if it's not the correct unit the printer will probably ignore it.
