Robert I have clients both large and small that use most of the HP ranges of printers. In one case we have HPLJ4M & 4M+ and 4L. The 4Ls are fine. They are connected to local PCs (RPRINTER) and used for personal low volume printing. The reasoning behind this choice is as follows: * Standardising on ONE printer manufacturermeans that most of the copatability issues go away. I have experienced far too many problems with printers which are HP compatabile because often there are small font, capability, design differences which means a document produced on one printer and later reprinted on another comes out different! If you don't need postscript I would suggest that 4L for use at home are fine. Yes they are slower but they are small, light easy to use. If you must have postscript then the 4ML would do although I think as they are priced close to the 4M+ they advantage is getting smaller. Most people will not see the difference between 300dpi and 600dpi (once upon a time we thought the LaserJet 1 with 300dpi was fantastic!!). There are of course the newer LJ5 which may have features of interest like IR connectivity etc. I I were doing the site I would use HP througout (only one manufacturer to shoult at and good hardware support), 4Ls at home with 4+ or something bigger in the office. Accept it has no postscript for home use or purchase 4ML. Most wives would rather have something small like a 4L in the home rather than a big 4M!
