Hmmmmmmmmmmm. I've never seen this happen when using out-of-the-Windows-box
VGA drivers at 640×480.
But the problem has been documented as being the result of Excel's reliance on
video driver screen position data for generating printer instructions (rather
than recomputing everything from scratch). Screen rounding is much, much
coarser than 600 dpi printing so this introduces considerable variation.
