All More on this suposed upgrade. The upgrade I obtained was the original one, with the readme file dated 16 Mar. I upgraded, and I could no longer print from my Netware 3.11 server. After the failure, I dialed in to CIS,and downloaded the new A0514 file, despite having the same file name as my upgrade. I ran the install for the new upgrade, and a new readme file apeared, dated 11 May. This file contains the following warning: Followed by a decription of a workaround. **************************************************************************** Device=JetDirect Print Server Models=J2555A Version=A.03.14 CAUTION CAUTION CAUTION CAUTION CAUTION CAUTION CAUTION CAUTION CAUTION CAUTION CAUTION CAUTION CAUTION CAUTION CAUTION CAUTION CAUTION CAUTION Please read the following problem description before deciding to update your JetDirect firmware! If you think the following defect may effect you, please wait for the next firmware release which will be available by June 1, 1995 **************************************************************************** NetWare 3.11 Token Ring Problem Description: ============ The JetDirect A.03.14 token ring firmware release increased the size of packets for performance reasons. Unfortunately, there was a defect uncovered after the release with 3.11 or lower Novell NetWare servers. The following problem will occur on NetWare 3.11 servers under the following conditions: 1) The Pburst.nlm file is not loaded on the server. 2) The MAXIMUM PHYSICAL PACKET SIZE is set to greater than 1514. The defect will occur on all 2.x NetWare servers. **************************************************************************** I can basically do neither of the solution, as this will affect our 1000 node 10 site WAN environment, a chance Ican not take. Where can I obtain a downgrade, or a replacement card? I can se no lower version of the firmware here on CIS. What sort of testing does HP? Not much obviously. I expect a fix by the end of today.
