VR workshop 4 3DS users
A little short notice but I hope I will see some of you there!
Next Monday June 22, from 2 to 5 PM, at the Meckler VR '95 conference in San
Jose, CA at the convention center we are hosting a workshop for 3D Studio users
to begin modeling for interactive worlds and the basics of using these worlds
inside a CDK application. The agenda follows below. We will be showing the
Virtual Environment NAVIGATOR working hand in hand with 3D Studio. Participants
will leave with a finished world, and the newest version of the NAVFlyer to fly
it and their own new designs. It is a good chance to see how it works, and have
some fun! The conference goes on for 3 more days and has the latest and
greatest the VR industry has to offer including hardware and software. Call

"CDK & Virtual Environment NAVIGATOR World Building Techniques for 3D Studio
Modelers"

Overview
The Virtual Environment NAVIGATOR, a CDK based application, is an
interactive simulation software package designed for the thousands of
existing 3D modelers experienced in building and animating 3
dimensional worlds. 3D Studio is an excellent source for such 3D
models.This workshop explores the various techniques and
considerations 3D Studio modelers should use in creating worlds for
real-time interaction. Participants will be introduced to both
Autodesk's CDK (Cyberspace Developers Kit) and the Virtual Environment
NAVIGATOR, learn the basic techniques of world building for CDK
applications using 3D Studio, and step through the creation of such a
world from beginning to end. Four different methods of creating
actions or animations will be covered. Users will leave this tutorial
with a finished world, along with a shareware CDK based flying tool –
the NAVFlyer – to explore their own future worlds. In addition to
learning about software and modeling techniques, participants will
also learn about real-time interactive hardware such as various
Headmounted-displays, Polhemus 6D trackers, the SpaceController
(formerly Spaceball), StereoGraphics CrystalEyes Eyewear and others.
Integration of a total PC based VR system, will be reviewed.

Each participant will receive documentation with examples from the
workshop and a summary of the modeling techniques shown. Product
information is included. Also a 1.44 MB disk containing the sample
models and the NAVFlyer shareware package. With this flyer,
participants can begin building their own 3D worlds and testing them
in a CDK environment at home.
Prerequisites
3D Studio experience is highly recommended, but non-modelers will also
benefit.
