Yes, Escom did actually sell Amigas in their stores several years ago. This is
a little known fact, but it's not like they are totally new to the Amiga. They
did sell them, although I am not sure that they were the (exclusive) German
distributor, I believe they just sold them, like any other computer.
What some people don't know is that Escom has had their eyes on the Amiga for a
lot longer than we think, it was no last minute decision. I believe they
planned on attending the auction as of about last July, and in other
interesting news, it is well known that several ex-Commodore employees work
there already, not ones who left C= recently, but people who worked their years
ago.
I think Escom knows what they are doing, because they are so quiet about their
exact plan before they do it. Mouthing off about what you are planning before
you have it figured out is not good business strategy. If other companies had
taken notice that Escom was about ready to explode (in growth, by getting C=
and Rumbelows) maybe someone else would have realized the Amiga may really be a
threat to the PC market if in the right hands (and maybe the right continent.
I don't see an Amiga in every house in the US, but in Germany someday…
maybe.)
