Sometimes requesters pop up with info in text entry boxes an you think that
those are defaults. But in truth the related item may not be set so you have
to explicity slect the item to be sure. An example is in the Mail Merge
requester where you have to tell WW what the field ahd record separtator
characters are.
When you import and eps picture, the bounding box on screen does not agree with
the coordinates in the info requester. But it does seem to print properly.
Current rev only has british english dictionary, but I understand the patch SL
is distributing has the American english dictionary.
The way you set/move/control tabs is a little different than I'm used to, but
it doesn't prevent you from doing what you need to.
The way the fonts are tied to your selected print method takes getting used to.
If you switch from PS printing to Normal (say, for instance, so you can "print"
a FAX to GPFax, it always defaults to Shannon Book 14 point. I'd prefer a
method where I could tell them what my desired bit map equivalents of the PS
fonts I have loaded should be.
The things that really trurned me off FiW is the company's snotty attitude
regarding the ahndling of font styling. In FiW there are 3 different ways to
do it (none of them conveneint) and they all work differently. Also if you
change the font accros styled text (bold, italic, bolditalic) depending on
which method of applying the style you used, it may or may not "stick".
Softwoods attitude ever since FC has been that, "dammit, bold and italic are
fonts not styles, and you stupid users better get that straight and start using
em' that way…" Also, in WW, you can actually read the screen with ease. FiW
is not that readable to mee (eyes about 4' from a 13 inch monitor.
I should point out that I use WW mainly for business letters, and such. So I
don't really "push" its capacity. And its largely a "Chevy vs Ford" thing –
they'll both get you where your going, the differences are a matter of personal
style.
