3000 & 2.04
The first 3000's "kickstarted" from a file on the hard disk. To set that
up, you needed the "Super Kickstart" disk that came with the 3000. The
install utility on the matching WB disk put the Kickstart image out onto
the hard drive where the ROMS in the machine would find them. (You're
right about the ROMS being an early version of 2.0… it was just enough
to boot in the kickstart from the HD.) Best bet would be to go all the
way to 3.1. It's a ROM swap, you can get the new ROMS from a dealer (if
you can find one) or mail order. Then it's just a matter of replacing
those early 2.0 ROMS with the new ones, and reloading the HD. BTW, make
sure you get the 3000 version of the ROMS.
